Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge
You’ll begin your experience at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal Visitor Center. Start times vary seasonally and are customized to your interests, but we typically recommend departing about 3 hours before sunset for ideal lighting and wildlife activity.
Meet your local, seasoned wildlife expert from The Wild Source (headquartered in Golden, CO), for a short 10-minute orientation before setting off on your adventure.
The safari follows the park’s 11-mile Wildlife Drive, offering the chance to spot iconic species like bison, bald eagles, coyotes, deer, and prairie dogs, along with seasonal and migratory birds. Raptors such as Swainson’s hawks, ferruginous hawks, and bald eagles are often seen, along with waterfowl and summer highlights like burrowing owls, which nest in prairie dog burrows.
