Sitting atop a prairie hill, the interpretive center at Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump overlooks the spot where the primary food source and way of life were herded toward the edge and fell to their death. The demise of the bison provided sustenance and contributed to all facets of the Plains people’s way of being. Bison were how they clothed themselves, sustained themselves throughout brutal winters and provided shelter from the harsh prairie elements.

This scenic overlook takes you to the more traditional prairie views where grazing Bison roam about the rough fescue. Located below the Overlook, Bison can frequently be seen within the paddock.

The Akamina Parkway in Waterton Lakes National Park (a.k.a. Cameron Lake Road), is a gorgeous 9.4 mile drive through an amazing canyon that ends at the incredibly scenic Cameron Lake. You will more than likely see wildlife on or near the Akamina Parkway. Bighorn sheep are often seen in the cliffs along the first several miles of the parkway, and sometimes you'll see a band of bighorn sheep actually on the road.

Nestled in the center of Waterton Lakes National Park is the charming Waterton Park Townsite, also known as Waterton Village. This wonderful little village is so perfectly well-kept, charming and cute.

The Bar U Ranch is your opportunity to live like a cowboy! Ride into history on a wagon pulled by Percheron horses to discover the life of a ranching cowboy from the late 1800s. Try your hand at roping a steer or repair a bridle, learn the old-style ranching ways. Wander the trails and dirt roads to see the cattle, saddle horses, chickens and other farm animals. Venture into the 100-year-old barns, slaughterhouse, post office, and of course the cookhouse to experience "home on the range".
